My name is Anna McGrew, aka pobrecitats. I have been creating art for my entire life, ever since I was a toddler sitting in on my mom’s college art classes.
Becoming a tattoo artist and channeling my artworks onto skin was the best decision I ever made. Tattooing is an ancient practice, predating modern civilization, and I feel honored to be a part of a historical practice of such magnitude. My clients mean so much to me, and each session we have is magic. I have a wide range of inspirations from anime to ancient statues to florals. The name pobrecitats was inspired by my grandmother. It is derived from the Spanish word “pobrecita/o” means “poor baby”, and was most commonly used to berate my cousins and I for whining! My grandmother is originally from Guatemala, she, my mother, and our heritage are a huge inspiration to my work.
