My dear friend Crystal Mason, ex-curator of our Black and Blue gallery space and happy client recommended Aurora Meneghello. Aurora, specializing in portraits, was very excited about the unusual project. Typically photos of tattoos show only the inked body part, have not much personality or artistic angles.
We collaborated on a different take for my photos. I wanted to show more spirit and have the person be part of a living environment. We met in the early morning hours on Bernal Hill in San Francisco. All featured people are long term clients, who I share a strong bond with. The pieces represent my current style.
The book is called Tattoo World and is out now!! I will have an art opening at Black and Blue Tattoo (click here for information) in honor of the publication, the photos and the people involved. The book is $35 plus tax and is for sale at the shop!
I am thankful to my friends and clients for participating in the project and Aurora for her insight, creativity and amazing organization. Here are the results of the shoot.
