Idexa Tattooing
Photo: Aurora Meneghello
Idexa, a native of Bremen, Germany, immigrated to San Francisco in 1991. She started tattooing and branding in the course of the next few years and opened up Black & Blue Tattoo in 1996.

For the last decade, she has been living in the north bay and doesn't mind the peaceful commute on Sundays for her work week in San Francisco. the rest of her time is spend with her 2 amazing and wild kids, lots of outside exercise and the attempt, to make music.

Idexa has a multinational reputation for innovative design and precision. A versatile tattoo artist, Idexa specializes in black work, geometric patterns, scientific imagery and organically inspired designs. Prospective customers are invited to acquaint themselves with the range and quality of the artist's work by looking through her photo-books.

Idexa has worked in a variety of media but finds working on skin the most satisfying, as only tattooing allows her to work with the unique forms of each body. Most pieces are drawn directly on the skin, allowing for a unique collaboration between the artist, the customer, and the customer's body.

To Idexa tattooing is a means of self-transformation through art. One could think of tattooing as a way of making the outside of the body look more the way it feels from the inside. Idexa is especially interested in this personal, spiritual experience, and her customers appreciate her attention to detail and to their individual needs.

If you are interested in Idexa's style and approach, you are welcome to set up a time to come in and talk to her by texting her cell phone 415-516-1974 and/or emailing her at idexa@blackandbluetattoo.com.

Idexa tattoos on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays ONLY with flexible hours but NOT flexible days. The responsibilities of being a mother prevent her from changing this schedule in any way. She has an $200 minimum/hourly tattoo fee and a $150 per hour charge for drawing on the body and with 150 dollar minimum to draw also just on paper. She does not believe in cover-ups, but enjoys reworking and/or extending old pieces.
