Brittany
Where are you from?
I am an artist and musician from Asheville, North Carolina. Growing up in the South, surrounded by trees and mountains, greatly influenced my need to create and express myself through art. To me, art is a language where words fail to express feeling.

What are your credentials as an artist?
Since I was a child, I have always been engaged in artistic endeavors ranging from a variety of mediums such as crafting, playing music, drawing, and painting. In 2001 I moved to San Francisco and studied art at San Francisco State University where I developed my skills as a painter and illustrator. During this time I also I worked as a professional henna artist at Shakti Blue giving me insight in how to compliment the body's shape and flow with art and how to work with concepts such as drawing straight lines on a curved form. A few years later, I was fortunate to acquire an apprenticeship under phenomenal tattoo artist, Jessica Cooke and have been in love with the trade ever since.

How would you describe your style?
My work is greatly inspired by Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Victorian art, 60's pop art, nature, sadness, happiness, love, friends, and dreams. Some of my favorite artists are Alphonse Mucha, Stanislaw Wyspianski, Virginia Sterrett, Bonnie MacLean, and Aubrey Beardsley.

What kind of tattoos do you prefer to do?
Though I am happy to work with existing images, I prefer custom work that harmonizes with and accommodates to the individual. Though I enjoy tattooing many different styles, my favorite would definitely be designing custom Art Nouveau or nature inspired pieces.

Would you rather be a turtle or a snail?
Turtle! If it can be a sea turtle.

What is the first childhood memory that pops into your head…right now!?
Roller skating to "Do the Bart Man" in Virginia when I was 8.

Other misc. info:
I play harp in a band called "Cannons & Clouds". Someday I will live in a tree house. I have never seen a UFO but I keep looking…(if you have, tell me all about it!), I have a bachelor's degree in French. My favorite smell is blooming orange blossoms and my favorite dessert is salted caramel.
